Comic Geek I/O reviews: X-Men (volume 4) #1 (slight spoilers abound)
The all-woman X-Team arises! Consisting of Storm, Kitty Pryde, Psylocke, Rogue, Rachel Grey, and … Jubilee? The book is fast paced, high action explosion-fest, with a surprising low amount of gratuitous T&A, and no “Back-broken” poses that Psylocke is famous for giving. Former bad guy, sentient bactium John Sublime is back, and asking for help! His sister, someone more evil than him, Arkea, is going to destroy the world, but where is she? She’s taken over the body of a baby, whom Jubilee is bringing RIGHT to the Jean Grey Institute! The art is great, and even makes Jubilee a loveable character again, and like I said, not a ton of T&A, which may be a turnoff for some, but this is actually what I wanted in this book. If this was going to be all inhuman positions, just to show off Psylocke’s amazing body, I was actually going to be mad. They handled it very well, I’m going to give this a 8/10 - it’s good for an establishing shot on this comic, while bringing back several characters I haven’t thought of in years. I thought Jubilee was straight up gone, to be replaced with the more “voluptuous” Dazzler, who is pretty much the same character with bigger boobs.
